Having previously undertaken a number of successful projects to the satisfaction of the client, TR Stabilisation (TRS), Collaborating with JR Rix & Sons where engaged at early stage following JR Rix land acquisition of a site in South Cave, Hull (The Site). Due to continued expansion of the JR Rix, Victory Leisure Homes compa- ny, and the requirement for further storage of their temporary / modular homes units.

TR Stabilisation were appointed to develop a design whereby all material could remain on site and the site could be developed for the intended purpose with surface water run-off draining into existing no adopted surface water drainage receptors.

The works comprised the following:

  • Initial site topographical survey and design of the proposed finished site levels to accommodate retaining materials on site, and surface water run-off.
  • Site investigation, including sampling, and laboratory test- ing for determination of optimum binder use, including probing of existing sub-grade to determine subterranean soils stiffness modulus
  • Removal of existing top-soils and re-use on site to form a boundary aesthetic bunds.
  • Segregation of putrescible material within existing made grounds at the site and re-use within bunds.
  • Mass earthworks to achieve desired proposed finished for- mation levels, including treatment of soils suitable for re- use as acceptable earthworks material in accordance with MCHW Vol.1 series 600.
  • Surface stabilisation of formation to achieve Hydraulically Stabilised Soils in accordance with MCHW Vol.1 series 800 cl.840 (Subbase Replacement)
  • Extensive geotechnical verification testing of engineered material for validation.
  • Installation of a granular surface formation abrasion layer.
    TR Stabilisation, adopted an holistic approach to provide the cli- ent with fixed costs within budget, along with delivery of the pro- ject with the allocated timeframe.
    Environmental & Sustainability savings:
  • Reduced depletion of natural resources (aggregates) associ- ated with Granular 6F, DoT Type 1 subbase.
  • Reduction in disposals off site to landfill
  • Reduction in Energy, Fuel and Emissions.
