The works comprised the following:

  • Removal of existing top-soils and re-use on site to form a reprofiled embankment, soils improvement for this purpose to achieve 50kN/m2 shear strength.
  • Excavation of proposed attenuation tanks for tank installa- tion by client due excavation depth following site recon- touring.
  • Backfilling of installed tanks following installation, in ac- cordance with manufacturers requirements
  • Removal of existing concrete hardstands and paved areas and segregation on-site for re-processing.
  • Excavation of existing soils to competent strata beneath proposed building and treatment to improve soils bearing capacity for shallow pad foundations and ground bearing floor slab solution.
  • Large scale earthworks exercise with all unsuitable material treated to improve engineering properties as acceptable earthworks material to meet the requirements of MCHW Vol.1 series 600.
  • Surface stabilisation of formation to achieve Hydraulically Stabilised Soils in accordance with MCHW Vol.1 series 800 cl.840 (Subbase Replacement)
  • Extensive geotechnical testing of material re-use to verify the performance specification in line with the client con- sultant requirements.
  • On site reprocessing of existing hardstands in accordance with WRAP quality protocol to produce both Granular 6F capping material and DoT Type 1 subbase for re-use within the proposed construction build-ups.
  • Management and control of surface water, perched ground- water.

TR Stabilisation, adopted an holistic approach at early contract involvement, to ensure fixed costs where within budget, and de- livery of the project within the allocated timeframe accommodat- ing partial handover for release to follow on construction phase activities.
Environmental & Sustainability savings:
Reduced depletion of natural resources (aggregates) associated with Granular 6F, DoT Type 1 subbase.
Reduction in disposals off site to landfill, borrow pit adopted for groundworks arisings generated during the construction phase.
Reduction in Energy, Fuel and Emissions.
