TR Stabilisation were engaged by JCB at early tender stage owing to our value engineering proposal for the enabling works at the site of a proposed new heavy cab system manufacturing facility ion the existing site of JCB (Uttoxeter).

The site involved a large scale earthworks activity, of which the natural clays were unsuitable for re-use as acceptable earthworks materials, also as a result of the proposed construction build-ups and foundations the site generated a large amount of disposal off site and importation of aggregates. TR Stabilisation developed a proposal to retain and re-use existing site soils and incorporate a stabilised surface to mitigate importation of aggregates and mitigate disposals off site. underlying granular fills within a portion of the proposed building proved problematic where c.4.0m of fill, this was overcome by TR Stabilisations proposal to mitigate large scale piling for the proposed foundation solution. TR Stabilisation mitigated the piled foundation solution and the proposed building was founded within stabilised soils using traditional pad foundations, this was possible using vibro-stone column foundation prior to stabilisation to support the fills being deposited, the overall saving to the client was in excess of £1 million.

TR Stabilisation worked closely with JCB, Designers and geotechnical consultants to agree the performance specification and verification criteria, for the eventual appointment to a blue chip contractor to take over the scheme for the construction phase
